Are chiropractic treatments painful?  There are several different types of chiropractic treatments. Some do involve quickly “snapping” joints back in place.  There is a variety of more gentle treatments for those who cannot or should not have a more forceful type of adjustment.  The two main types of light force treatments are performed at LifeLine Chiropractic Center.  One type of gentle adjusting is performed with an instrument called an Activator.  Another type we use is called Positional Release.  These methods are very safe and practically painless, yet effective in restoring joint motion.

Do I need to have x-rays taken? Most patients do not need to have x-rays taken, or they already have had some taken before they come to our office.  IF you have had a recent trauma, history of cancer or other serious health concerns, are over 50 years old or have had chronic, unresolved pain, then x-rays are usually indicated before adjusting.  We refer out to imaging facilities for those x-rays, when needed.

Do I need to keep being treated for the rest of my life? Our philosophy is “Find It, Fix it and Leave It Alone”.  This philosophy sets apart from many other chiropractors. Many people who are in good health, may only require a treatment or two to get back to their activities.  Here at Lifeline Chiropractic Center we always discuss exercises and stretches to help maintain good spinal alignment.  However, life does throw us curveballs from time to time.  We overdo it in the yard, we sit at a computer for 8 or more hours a day, we lift children, we take long road trips, we sleep in different beds on vacation, we play weekend sports…all of these things can cause our muscles to pull abnormally on our joints, causing us to seek treatment for the pain.  At LifeLine Chiropractic Center, we offer Acute Care, Corrective Care and Maintenance care.  The choice is up to each patient.  Acute Care can require several treatments over several weeks.  Corrective Care is less frequent, with emphasis on teaching the patient how to make lifestyle changes, keeping them out of pain.  Finally, Maintenance Care can be used by those patients who like to keep ahead of life, getting a chiropractic “tune-up” on a regular basis.  Think of Chiropractic Care like Dental Care; you don’t only brush your teeth once in a lifetime.  Most of us preventively brush at least 2 times a day.  Furthermore, we visit our dentist twice a year, to catch problems in early stages, avoiding bigger problems later.  Many people will greatly benefit from regular chiropractic treatment, with the addition of a tailor-made home self-care program.

Do we address your nutritional and supplement needs?  We frequently recommend dietary changes and/or supplements to aid in your recovery and overall health.  We specifically use Standard Process Labs and Optimal Health Systems.  Both of these companies use whole foods as the basis for their products.  If you request a thorough evaluation of your dietary and nutritional status, we are happy to explore that with you.

What ages do we treat?  Over the past 38 years, we have treated newborns, toddlers, tweens, teenagers, adults, and geriatric conditions, both male and female.   Each age group requires different types of treatments.  We certainly wouldn’t treat a college football player the same as a newborn infant. Yet all of us should have access to restoring joint motion especially when we are young and growing.

What conditions do we treat?  The types of conditions usually treated by chiropractic are those related to structure of the neck, spine, shoulders, arms, hips and legs.  Sprained ankles and wrists should be re-aligned as soon as the soft tissues allow.  Whiplash of the neck should be treated quickly, to avoid the body creating arthritis in the joints later in life.  Athletes like to have a treatment before a big event, improving their performance.  Chronic pains such as those due to postural strains or repetitive motions can greatly benefit from chiropractic treatment.  Even patients with Muscular Dystrophy or Multiple Sclerosis can benefit from gentle chiropractic treatment.  However, there are several situations where chiropractic would not be indicated; fresh fractures, serious neurological injuries, cancer, severe osteoporosis are just a few of those conditions.  At LifeLine Chiropractic, we take great care to spend time going over your medical history.  We pride ourselves on being honest about those conditions we feel are not chiropractic cases, and will quickly refer you to the appropriate practitioner who is better suited to help the more serious ailments.
